The 41st match between Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) restrict Delhi Capitals (DC) to just 127 runs as the side kept losing wickets at regular intervals and even had their ninth dismissal on the last ball of the 20th over.
While this is surely is a below-par score for the DC side, it was the war of words that took place between Ravichandran Ashwin and KKR debutant Tim Southee.
The incident took place in the 19th over and Southee was bowling to Ashwin. The DC all-rounder faced a slower short ball and pulled it, but no pace meant the ball went straight up and Nitish Rana ran in from deep square leg to complete the catch.
However, when Ashwin was walking back to the crease, he and Southee seemed to have some words being exchanged. While Southee was the first to have a word with Ashwin, it led to the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan getting involved. The KKR captain and Ashwin too had a talk till finally Dinesh Karthik got in the way and took Ashwin away from the scene.
So what was the reason for the tiff? It might have been something about the last ball of the previous over where they stole a run. However, fans still want to know the real reason behind the tiff and started tweeting about the same.

Apparently Ashwin got pissed off because Southee hadn’t subscribed to his Youtube channel. Fair enough

It was Southee who said something and when Ashwin went towards him Morgan was standing and had few words. Got seperated by DK before things could go out of control

Ashwin will Mankad Southee.
