When India lost to Pakistan in the opening game of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, many Indian cricketers faced backlash and Mohammed Shami even went on to face the most wrath.

Following the loss, Shami became subject to massive backlash on social media. India's most expensive bowler, Shami went on to concede runs at an economy over 11 and the cricketer, who is a Muslim by religion, saw the worst of it all as he was targeted on basis of his ethnicity.

Surely, many former cricketers Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Irfan Pathan and even many netizens stood up for the bowler and made sure to give back to the trollers.

However, some cricket fans are questioning about the trolling skipper Virat Kohli got, despite him being the only one who managed to help India take the score to 151. Not just him, his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and now daughter Vamika has been trolled on numerous occasions because of India's loss.

In fact, some even questioned why Kohli has not yet spoken about Shami facing the backlash. So ahead of the New Zealand game, the captain, who was visibly angry, spoke about the tolls and called them spineless.

"We're playing on the field, we're not a bunch of spineless people on social media. This has become a source of entertainment for some people which is very sad. All this drama created on the outside is based on people's frustrations".

Soon after, netizens took to social media to praise the skipper for speaking against all the bad things spoken to them on the internet.

As for the clash, India will face the Kiwis on Sunday (October 31) in the second game of Group 2. The two sides lost to Pakistan in their respective games and this fixture will be a must-win match for both teams.
