It's not the first time, surely won't be the last time Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been slammed for his tweet about celebrating a cracker free Diwali.

The captain, who is currently in UAE preparing for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, had taken to Twitter and posted a video of himself and captioned it, "Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a series of my personal tips for celebrating a meaningful Diwali with loved ones and family. Stay tuned by following my Pinterest profile 'viratkohli' - link in bio".

He spoke about COVID-19 and how the past years have been tough on people. The video also showed photos of sweets and clips of him working out. However, netizens believed he spoke about crackers and started trolling him.

Soon after the tweet was out, netizens started trending #SunoKohli and bashing him for his comments. The message did not go down well with many people in social media as many termed him a hypocrite and some even stated that Kohli's environmental concern is misplaced.

Many social media users even went on to trend very offensive hashtags while some stood in solidarity with Virat Kohli.

As far as cricket is concerned, India will be playing their warm-up match against England today (October 18) ahead of their main clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24 in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2201.
