Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took a cheeky dig at pundits, former England cricketers and English fans who are blaming the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Indian players' reluctance to play the final Test against England and hence the cancellation of the Manchester game.
After the COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp, the BCCI and ECB mutually decided to call off the fifth Test match of the enthralling series and will work together to find a window for the rescheduling of the Test match.
But with the IPL 2021 set to resume in nine days in the UAE, many English fans claimed that BCCI and IPL rule cricket and Test cricket doesn't matter to them. Former England captain Nasser Hussain in his column termed IPL as the elephant room saying that as soon as COVID-19 concerns threatened the final Test many discussions centred around IPL, while Michael Vaughan said that the teams flew player from Manchester to UAE the next day, seven days before the league as they will undergo six-day quarantine, nothing but IPL has to be the reason for the cancellation of the match.
However, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) CEO Tom Harrison didn't think IPL should be blamed as mental concerns are real and COVID-19 can't be taken lightly.

While Mumbai Indians flew in skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and pacer Jasprit Bumrah Friday night, CSK management and RCB too are planning to get their players in the UAE by Sunday morning as all the players will be undergoing six-day quarantine.
