Pant finished as the second highest run-scorer in the Test series with 350 runs at 58.33 ahead of Indian skipper Virat Kohli (282 runs at 40.29) and below leader Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 521 runs at 74.43.
The Bharat Army even dedicated a song for Pant, while he made fans like Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting by the time the Test series ended and India clinched a historic 2-1 victory.
Even the Australian prime minister could not help but praise Pant when he hosted the Indian and Australian cricket teams for the New Years at his residence. During the event, he was also seen babysitting Tim Paine's kids as he met Paine's wife Bonnie and their two kids.
As a wicketkeeper, he not only did a great job with the gloves but also chattered away to glory behind the wickets and his sledging was one of the major reasons that made him the superstar during the tour.
There were several instances when the broadcasters switched to the stump mic just to listen what Pant had to say to the Aussie batsmen.
Pant recently revealed to a national daily that his family loved his sledging in Australia and that has made him happy.
"That is how I am. If someone provokes me, I'll give it back. I had a duty to do for my team. But I know the code of conduct. I remember my values. I have sledged and people have actually loved it.
That my mother and sister enjoyed it makes me happy," Pant said.
Pant also said that while he idolised MS Dhoni and Gilchrist but he never tried to copy them in any way.
"I do idolize Gilchrist and Mahi bhai (Dhoni). But that doesn't mean I want to become that same person. It's not about copying your idol. It's more about learning things from them. I want to be myself. I want to be Rishabh Pant," the wicketkeeper-batsman added.
