My drive to play went up: Rajasthan's Aditya Garhwal refuses to be bowed down by IPL 2018 snub
The IPL auction is the talk of the town and while the entire cricketing world is waiting for the big payday scheduled on January 27-28, there are certain players who are left in the dark. Rajasthan player Aditya Garhwal who had given his name for consideration in the auction list is a tad disappointed and is searching for answers as to why he has been left out from the pool of players. He is not alone to have faced this googly. Even the pacer Abhimanyu Lamba is wondering why he didn’t make the cut.

Rajasthan player Aditya Garhwal who had given his name for consideration in the auction list is a tad disappointed and is searching for answers as to why he has been left out from the pool of players. He is not alone to have faced this googly. Even the pacer Abhimanyu Lamba is wondering why he didn’t make the cut.
The two players did exceptionally well in the recently-concluded CK Nayudu Trophy and ended up being the top scorer and top wicket-taker respectively. While Aditya belted 650 runs, Abhimanyu scalped 29 wickets at an economy of just 2.82.
Aditya was also part of the Rajasthan team that made it to the finals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018 and played a crucial role in team's progress in hunt of the title, shares his take on the IPL snub.
Q. Was IPL selection on your mind when you were selected in the T20 squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy?
AG. Yes, it was on my mind, but my first priority was to make sure that I contribute as much as I can and make the team win.
Q. Are you disappointed to not see your name in the IPL auction list?
AG. Yes, it is a bit disappointing, but that’s how life goes. You don’t get what you think, you just have to be positive and keep performing
3. Did your drive to play slightly go down when you did not find your name in the list?
AG. No, in fact it went up for sure. Being a cricketer, you have to be ready for everything that the game throws at you and find an answer to it.
4. What you think must have been the reason behind your name not being considered?
AG. I really don’t know. Maybe I haven’t scored big in the ongoing tournament. This can be a factor. But that didn't distract me much as my focus was completely fixed on helping the team win matches. As a sportsman I have learnt one thing in life that you can focus on the things which are in your control, so I would focus on performing for the team rather than selections.
