After Arjuna Ranatunga, Sri Lankan veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been accused of sexual harassment in India, in the wake of #MeToo movement in the country.

Taking to Twitter, Indian playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada shared a post on behalf on any anonymous user recalling an incident where the cricketer sexually assaulted a woman in his hotel room. The incident, according to the post happened in Mumbai a few years back during a season of the glamorous Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 25-year-old pacer is one of Sri Lanka's greatest bowlers in limited-overs formats. In 207 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), he has taken 306 wickets and 90 wickets in 68 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Malinga, who was sidelined by the selectors after home series against India in 2017, returned to the limited-overs side last month after a year, during Sri Lanka’s stint in the Asia Cup.

Speaking in support of the fast bowler during his return, Sri Lanka’s coach head coach Chandika Hathurusingha hailed Malinga as one of the best death bowlers in the world.

“I believe that Malinga fits into our equation for this tournament. He is one of the best death bowlers in the world. In the last few matches, he has performed well and his fitness is up to the mark," ICC quoted Hathurusingha, as saying

Sri Lanka anyway failed to go past the group stage and the tournament was won by reigning champions India by defeating Bangladesh in the final.

Earlier on Wednesday, an Indian flight attendant took to Facebook and accused Sri Lankan cricket icon Arjuna Ranatunga for sexually harassing her by the poolside of the hotel during one of his visits to India.
