IPL 2021: KKR spinner Kuldeep Yadav sustains knee injury, returns to India from UAE

One player for him this year has surely not gone his way is spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Despite being in the UAE with his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he did not get any game time.
And to add to his woes, the left-arm wrist-spinner has sustained a knee injury and has returned back to India amidst the ongoing second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in the UAE. The bowler is expected to go through the rehabilitation process.
According to PTI, Kuldeep had sustained a nasty knee injury during a practice session in UAE and it took place while fielding where he twisted his knee and it was really bad at that point.
The 26-year-old had not played a single game in the ongoing IPL season as KKR were going in with the duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.
As for playing for India, the bowler was part of India's tour to Sri Lanka earlier this season, however, was not named for the ICC T20 World Cup squad which will begin next month.
In that series, Kuldeep registered figures of 2/48 and 0/55 in the two ODI's he had played. When it came to T20Is, he returned with 2/30 and 0/16 (from two overs) respectively.
Kuldeep has represented India in seven Tests, 65 ODIs, and 22 T20Is. He has 174 wickets overall to his name and was also part of India's run to the 2019 World Cup semi-final in England.
