All known Virat Kohli as the 'Run Machine', however, it has been quite some time since the Indian skipper has scored a century. Fans and even former cricketers are waiting for the batsman to score a ton.

In fact, a lot of hopes were pinned on Kohli to score big during the five-match Test series against England. However, it did not go as planned, but he did get good starts in a couple of innings and was even able to score half-centuries, but not reach the triple-figure.

While a lot of questions floating around Kohli's century drought which has people questioning his captaincy, former India captain Kapil Dev has waved off all these assumptions. He stated that if that was the case, the Indian captain wouldn't have scored so many runs in the past few years.

"For all these years, when he was scoring runs, no one said anything about captaincy affecting Virat’s batting and now suddenly, there are opinions when there’s been a little up and down in his graph. When he scored those double centuries and so many hundreds, wasn’t there pressure then? It means that his captaincy should not be the focus. Instead, look at his ability," Kapil said on the show Uncut.

In the clash against England, the Indian team showed great character to register historic wins at Lord's and The Oval. Keeping the victories in mind, Kapil Dev pointed that once Kohli is known to get back to his old rhythm.

"The graph has surely gone up and down but for how long? Age 28 to 32 is the time when you really blossom. He is now experienced and mature. If he returns to his old form, Virat will not only score a century or double ton; he will give you 300. He is so much mature now and there is no shortage of fitness when it comes to Kohli. He just needs to identify himself and look to score big," Kapil concluded.
