Jinson had previously won the 2018 Asian Games gold in 1500m event with a record time of 3:44.72 for India.
Jinson Johnson breaks his own mark in 1500m national track record and clinching a silver medal for India in the ISTAF Berlin event on Sunday.
The Asian Games gold medalist recorded a time of three minutes and 35.24 seconds to finish second behind United States' Joshua Thompson at the Olympic Stadium and qualifies for World Championships.
“I was expecting to set new national record but did not expect to win the silver. I will now go to Colorado in USA for further training and then to Doha for World Championships,” Jinson said after the event.
“I am very happy. But my ultimate aim is to do well in Tokyo 2020.”
