Indian Premier League (IPL) petitioner Aditya Verma has reportedly joined the group of people who want the removal of Rahul Johri as the CEO of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after allegations of sexual harassment appeared against him on Saturday.

Speaking to a national media organization, Verma said, “I have always spoken about transparency and the CoA has also spoken about the need to be transparent. In such a scenario, I feel that the CEO should have already resigned the moment such an allegation was published against him on social media. He should have himself done this as someone who is an integral part of the board. I am sure that Vinod Rai will ensure that a proper investigation is carried out as any dilly-dallying on this also puts the CoA under the scanner.”

According to the same report, Verma in an email has made it clear that it is better for Johri to resign from the respectable post considering the current conditions because continuing to work in the BCCI would bring a bad name to the country’s cricket board.

On Saturday, Johri, who has served as the BCCI CEO since April 2016, was called out for sexual harassment by a journalist through an anonymous post. The woman has accused Johri of inappropriate behaviour and harassment.

Author Harnidh Kaur shared screenshots of the detailed account of the victim on her Twitter handle.

The women, who remained anonymous, claimed to be a journalist and accused Johri of sexual misbehaviour in regards to an incident that occurred while both of them were working for different media institutions.

According to the screenshots shared by Kaur, Johri allegedly took advantage of the anonymous person by offering her a job opportunity at the channel.

"The reports disclose allegations of sexual harassment made against Mr Johri, by an unnamed person through a twitter handle," a statement issued by CoA read.

"The allegations also relate to his previous employment with a large media house. Though the said allegations do not pertain to his employment with the BCCI, the Committee of Administrators of the BCCI has deemed it appropriate to seek an explanation from Mr Johri in relation to the allegations.

"He has been asked to submit his explanation within a week. The future course of action will be considered on receipt of his explanation," the statement added.
