IPL Auction 2018: Krishnappa Gowtham snapped up for Rs 6.2 crore by Rajasthan Royals – who is Karnataka all-rounder?

On Sunday, Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham attracted fierce bidding between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals before going for a mindboggling Rs 6.2 crore.

Last year, Gowtham was picked by MI for Rs 2 crore but didn’t play a single match. A useful all-rounder who can bat up and down the order, he is a fierce hitter with a strike rate of 165.15 for Karnataka in the last two seasons of the domestic T20 tournaments. He also has an economy rate of a frugal Rs 6.97 crore.

He has so far played 27 T20s and scored 310 runs at an average of 16.31 and has also picked up 20 wickets in at an average of 28.95 and economy rate of 7.06.

Mumbai Indians picked up Gowtham in 2017, who had the base price of Rs 10 lakh, for Rs 2 crores. Mumbai-based franchise staved off stiff challenges to get Gowtham. He will hope that he has a better outing for RR than he did for MI where he didn’t play a single game.
