One of the most successful captain of IPL, Gautam Gambhir will not be be playing for KKR any more. Gambhir who hasn't been in the best of form of late, predictably saw significant drop in value in this year's auction. His base price was Rs 2 crore . Delhi Daredevils, KXIP and Rajasthan Royals briefly showed interest in him. Finally, Delhi got him for Rs 2.8 crore, a distinct drop in price from the astronomical money KKR gave to get him in IPL 4. So after 7 seasons, Gautam Gambhir is back in his hometown Delhi for IPL. KKR didn't use their Right to match for Gambhir, although his price wasn't too great. Pre-auction there was much talks of KKR trying to get back Gambhir but when the moment of truth came, they were perhaps justifiably circumspect and didn't show much interest.

With Ponting as chief coach known for his fiery temper, it will be interesting to see how the equation with Gambhir shapes up. It is likely that Gautam Gambhir will also be captaining Delhi Daredevils.

Yuvraj Singh, a darling of the IPL crowd at one point of time has also seen significant deprecation in value. No longer hectic bidding war, many pundits believed it would be difficult for Yuvi to find any franchise. However as things pan out, Yuvi was sold at base price of Rs 2 crore for KXIP. Preity Zinta was distinctly excited as old pal Yuvraj is back in the fold. Yuvraj hails from Punjab and the old war horse is still a matchwinner in his day.

He is sure to be a crowd favourite for KXIP and likely to result in massive footfall. Will Yuvi captain the KXIP or the onus will fall on R Ashwin? We will know soon.
