Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who have been known for always punching above their weight finished in the third position in the last year's Indian Premier League (IPL) season despite losing two of their main players in Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, soon after the start of the season.

Kolkata Knight Riders, their Sunday's opponents, on the other hand, finished fifth as they missed out on the playoffs spot marginally due to a lesser Net Run Rate (NRR) but have had a wood over the SRH side in the recent encounters as they have won three out of the last five encounters.

Head-to-head: 19 games, KKR have won 12, SRH 7

The Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders have faced each other 19 times in eight seasons since 2013 when the former came into the existence. The men in purple have had the wood over the Sunrisers winning 12 games, with a percentage of 63, while the Orange Army has won only 7 of those 19 encounters.

In the last season, Kolkata Knight Riders won both games. The first one they won pretty convincingly by seven wickets. However, the second one was a close contest as the game went into a super over after both the teams ended up on the same score at the end of the 40 overs. It was the Kolkata Knight Riders, who prevailed again against the Sunrisers owing to a Lockie Ferguson brilliance with the ball.

David Warner leads the most runs list

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner is the leading run-scorer in the SRH vs KKR matches with 616 runs from 2014 till now, since the time he has been with the franchise.
