Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul has been admitted to the hospital after he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis Saturday night. Rahul felt severe abdomen pain and after not responding to the medication, he was transferred to the emergency room and the further tests revealed he will be undergoing surgery for the same.

The franchise issued a statement hours before their game against the Delhi Capitals on Sunday evening. Rahul, who has led the Punjab franchise for the last two seasons now, will not feature in the said game.

While praying for their skipper's speedy recovery Punjab Kings in a statement said, "KL Rahul complained of a severe abdomen pain last night and after not responding to the medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests which revealed that he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measure, he has been transferred to the hospital for the same."

Punjab Kings have won three games out of the seven they have played in the ongoing season of the IPL. They beat the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last game pretty comprehensively, by 34 runs to stay in the fight for the top four. It will be a huge blow to the Punjab franchise as not only Rahul leads the side, but currently has the most runs to his name in the competition.
