Punjab Kings have blown hot and cold in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they have lost five games and quite convincingly. They have won three games, two of them beating two of the top four sides currently, the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Kings face Rajasthan Royals, who are sailing in a similar boat. The Royals beat the Delhi Capitals in a last-over thriller and brushed aside teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad but were betam by the likes of CSK, RCB and MI quite comfortably and will be hoping to turn around their form in the second half.

The Punjab Kings have enjoyed a little dominance over the Rajasthan Royals in the last five games between the two sides, with three wins in their last five encounters, one of them came earlier this season.

Head-to-head: 22 games; RR - 12, PBKS - 10

The Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals have faced each other 22 times in the 11 seasons (Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two seasons in 2016 and 2017) since the inception of the IPL in 2008 and the Royals have won 12 games, while the Kings have won 10 of the 22 encounters.

The Punjab Kings won the first encounter of this season as after posting a mammoth total of 221 runs owing to skipper KL Rahul's innings of 91 runs and Deepak Hooda's explosive knock of 64 runs off just 28 balls, defended the score in the last over, on the very last ball by just four runs despite RR skipper Sanju Samson's century.

Sanju Samson leads the most runs list 

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson is the leading run-scorer in the PBKS vs RR clashes with 525 runs in his name against the Punjab side. He is followed by the Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul, with 441 runs against the Royals playing for the men in red. 

Piyush Chawla is the leading wicket-taker

Former Punjab Kings leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is the leading wicket-taker in the PBKS vs RR clashes with 14 scalps. Former Rajasthan Royals pacer Siddharth Trivedi is second on the list with 11 wickets while the Australian all-rounder James Faulkner, who has played for both sides has 10 wickets to his name in this fixture.
