Vijay Shankar was the pick of the bowlers for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their third game of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Mumbai Indians. After skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock got their team off to a smashing start, The SRH needed someone to break the partnership, and of all the bowlers it was Shankar who provided the men in orange the breakthrough.

Shankar, first accounted for MI captain Rohit getting him to hit towards the longer boundary on the leg-side as he didn't time the ball well and hit straight into the hands of the fielder. He used his slower balls and cutters to a good effect on the Chepauk surface that aided the change of pace.

If that wasn't enough, Shankar also removed the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav in his very next over as the slower ball gripped and it held in the surface. Surya could hit only as far as the bowler and Shankar didn't make any mistake in grabbing the ball.

Shankar finished with the figures of 2/19 in his three overs and he was one of the important reasons why Sunrisers were able to restrict the Mumbai Indians to 150. The netizens heaped praise on the all-rounder using the words 3D (3-Dimensional) which he was called by the then national selector for his selection in the World Cup squad for India.

Here are some of the reactions:
