Dinesh Karthik, on Thursday, surpassed Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take the most number of catches as a wicket-keeper in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Prasidh Krishna dismissed Suryakumar Yadav in the Match No 33 of IPL 2021 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi in the 13th over of the innings as he got him to edge it straight to Karthik.

This was Karthik's 115th catch in IPL history. He had 113 catches before the start of the second half, one less than Dhoni. After dismissing Devdutt Padikkal in the last match and Surya in this game, Karthik with two catches has leapfrogged Dhoni.

However, the Chennai Super Kings skipper still remains at the top with 153 dismissals in total, as compared to Karthik's 146.

Restricting Mumbai Indians

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan had won the toss against Mumbai and chose to bowl first and their bowlers responded well as they restricted the famed MI batting line-up to 155 runs in the first innings as Lockie Ferguson bowled an exceptional spell, especially the two overs at the death after Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy kept the scoring rate in check.

For Mumbai Indians, Quinton de Kock played an important innings of 55 runs after skipper Rohit Sharma got out for a scratchy 33. Some late blows from Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya helped them get to a total beyond 150.
