The defending champions Mumbai Indians came back to winning ways in their last game against the Rajasthan Royals after losing two games in a row. The Mumbai side will be facing their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings, who have been bulldozing sides left, right and centre and sit at the top of the pile with five wins in six games and a very superior net run rate.

The defending champions have had the advantage over the Chennai Super Kings in the last five games between the two sides as they have won four games. However, Chennai will have advantage coming into Saturday's game being the form side.

Head-to-head: 30 games; MI - 18, CSK - 12

The Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings have faced each other 30 times in the 11 seasons of the IPL since 2008 (CSK were banned for a couple of seasons in 2016, 2017) and the men in blue have had the upper hand with 18 wins, while CSK have won 12 out of those 30 encounters.

In the last year's IPL, both sides won one each game. Chennai Super Kings won the last year's tournament opener by 5 wickets owing to Faf Du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu's partnership of 100-plus runs as they chased down 162 runs. In the reverse fixture, however, Mumbai Indians on their way to the title-winning march pummeled the men in yellow winning the game by 10 wickets after restricting the Super Kings to just 114 runs in their 20 overs.

Suresh Raina leads the most runs list

Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina is the leading run-getter in the MI vs CSK games, scoring 730 runs. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is second in the list with 658 runs to his name against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

Lasith Malinga is the leading wicket-taker

Lasith Malinga, the former Mumbai Indians pacer and the current leading wicket-taker in the history of the IPL has the most wickets to his name in MI vs CSK games, with 37 scalps. All-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who represented Mumbai Indians in the first three seasons of the IPL and has been with CSK since 2011 is in the second position with 27 wickets. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has represented both sides in the past has 26 wickets to his name in this fixture.
