David Warner, who has won the lone IPL title for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous eight years, since the franchise came into being in 2012 has been sacked in the middle of the ongoing season and has been replace by Kane Williamson as the new captain. Not just the captaincy, the Hyderabad franchise has suggested that there will be a change in their overseas personnel as well which could mean Warner could altogether be benched and not feature in the playing XI of the side in their Sunday's game against the Rajasthan Royals.

Warner, who has been one of the legends in the IPL, has carried the Hyderabad side since taking over its reigns in 2014. He has won the Orange Cap for leading run-scorer in a season thrice and missed out once in 2016 where he scored 848 runs, where Virat Kohli was heads and shoulder above anyone else scoring 973 runs.

However, his form in this season including the lack of runs, the slow strike rate and him dropping some hints about differences with the management whether it is selection calls or batting order, Warner hasn't looked himself in this season and with five losses in six games, Sunrisers Hyderabad management had to make a decision before it's too late and with Williamson in smashing form, he was the obvious choice as the replacement.

However, the decision hasn't gone down too well with the fans and experts. Many said that changing captain was not the solution suggesting they didn't pick good Indian middle-order batsmen in the auction, which is one of the main reasons of their below-par performances, some said that it was disrespect to a man, who has almost single-handedly carried them since 2014, while many felt this could free up Warner the batsman and they could see the old Warner, who took apart the bowling attacks from the outset.
