Sunrisers Hyderabad named Kane Williamson as their captain for the remaining part of the 2021 edition of the IPL on Saturday.

David Warner, who has won the lone IPL title for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous eight years, since the franchise came into being in 2012 has been sacked in the middle of the ongoing season and has been replace by Kane Williamson as the new captain. Not just the captaincy, the Hyderabad franchise has suggested that there will be a change in their overseas personnel as well which could mean Warner could altogether be benched and not feature in the playing XI of the side in their Sunday's game against the Rajasthan Royals.

Warner, who has been one of the legends in the IPL, has carried the Hyderabad side since taking over its reigns in 2014. He has won the Orange Cap for leading run-scorer in a season thrice and missed out once in 2016 where he scored 848 runs, where Virat Kohli was heads and shoulder above anyone else scoring 973 runs.
However, his form in this season including the lack of runs, the slow strike rate and him dropping some hints about differences with the management whether it is selection calls or batting order, Warner hasn't looked himself in this season and with five losses in six games, Sunrisers Hyderabad management had to make a decision before it's too late and with Williamson in smashing form, he was the obvious choice as the replacement.
However, the decision hasn't gone down too well with the fans and experts. Many said that changing captain was not the solution suggesting they didn't pick good Indian middle-order batsmen in the auction, which is one of the main reasons of their below-par performances, some said that it was disrespect to a man, who has almost single-handedly carried them since 2014, while many felt this could free up Warner the batsman and they could see the old Warner, who took apart the bowling attacks from the outset.
Here are some of the reactions:
Warner dropped from captaincy. What a disrespect! SRH should learn from RCB and stick with their captain no matter what.

2015 - 6th
2016 - Champions
2017 - 4th
2020 - 3rd
One of the records in IPL history.
There must have been a better way to treat your title-winning, long-serving, absolute match-winner of a captain? He’s a T20 giant, SRH. David Warner is an absolute giant in the format.

Also, surely there must have been a better way to name Kane Williamson as the captain?
Bold call by SRH. Appreciate the decision. Not easy. Kane and JB were dropped on a few occasions. Among the 4 overseas players Warner was the one not in form and SRH had no other option. In spite of similar challenges each year SRH made the playoffs in the last 5 years. https://t.co/plYE8a0YVk

What the actual hell #SRH?

Disband that management rather than Warner. Been making some ridiculously poor calls for two seasons now and paying the price.#SRH #IPL2021
Carried the team for years, the most consistent OS captain, one of the most prolific overseas players in the league, scored truckloads of runs and danced his ass off on Butta Bomma. Warner is more Hyderabadi than Australian. Horrible call, @SunRisers.

I saw the emergency sirens and assumed this would actually be about something else. Oh well https://t.co/Kj8Iq84L2H

I hope this decision by @SunRisers releases the batsman in David Warner. He has looked a little subdued and weighed under at times and #SRH would want to see the dominant matchwinner in him again
