After Suresh Raina decided to opt-out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 due to 'personal reasons', Chennai Super Kings (CSK) now has huge boots to fill at the no.3 spot in their batting lineup. Skipper MS Dhoni now has an extra task in hand to find the right person to replace Raina within the CSK side heading into IPL 2020.

It was last week when Raina left UAE for India due to "personal reasons" so the CSK team needs to come up with an effective solution to their problems now. According to former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, MS Dhoni should be the main batting at no.3 for CSK in this year's IPL and should try and play as many balls possible.

"It will be a good opportunity for MS Dhoni to come and bat at No. 3," Gambhir said on 'Cricket Connected'. "And he has been away from the game for the last one year, so he would end up getting a lot more balls to face and then he can actually play the anchor innings as well which he has been doing for India for the last couple of years."

As per Gambhir, the former Indian skipper has the capability to come in at one down as there are other batsmen who can play the finishing game.

"So, MS Dhoni at No. 3 and then they have got depth with Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran, all those guys they can come in," Gambhir said.

"So, I think it is going to be a great opportunity for someone like MS Dhoni and I am sure he is going to relish that. Also, Suresh Raina not being there, you want to have some experienced player batting at No. 3, so it could be MS Dhoni now," he added.

But who will play the finisher's role for CSK if Dhoni bats at no.3?

Chennai Super Kings are blessed with some really good and versatile cricketers, one of them being Ravindra Jadeja. The star allrounder is a huge asset to Dhoni's side due to his contribution in the filed with topnotch fielding, his wicket-taking capabilities and also for his run-scoring prowess. The veteran cricketer has been a catalyst to the Chennai side on multiple occasions and is well known for his Hollywood hitting when needed.

Jadeja also has the game management skills and in-game intelligence to assess situations and target bowlers at moments of the game.

The 13th edition of the IPL is set to start from September 19, with defending champions Mumbai Indians scheduled to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener.
