Now taking to Twitter, IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) announced Australian opening batsman David Warner as their captain.

SRH said: “#OrangeArmy, our captain for #IPL2020 is @davidwarner31”.

In the video shared by the team, Warner thanked the side for giving him the role. He also extended his gratitude towards Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for leading the side last year.

“I am thrilled to be given the captaincy for this coming IPL, I am grateful for this opportunity, I would like to thank Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for leading the side last year. I would try my best to help the side lift the trophy this year,” Warner said.

Last year, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had led the side and when he was injured Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaced him.

As for the 13th season of Indian Premier League, it will kick off from March 29. Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will be facing the 2019 runner-up Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in the opening match.

This year, there has been a massive change in the cash-rich tournament, as the governing council decided to remove doubleheaders on Saturday.
