IPL 2018 Purple Cap: Andre Tye edges Trent Boult in wicket-takers list after match 22

The race of Purple Cap in IPL 2018 is getting interesting now. 

Trent Boult and Andrew Tye both received the Purple cap in their respective innings on Monday during the match between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. Both Trent Boult and Andre Tye got two wickets in the match. 

After match 22 of IPL 2018, Tye and Boult were equal on nine wickets from six games in the IPL 2018 wicket-takers list. Tye is ahead of Boult in race for the Purple cap with a slightly better combined economy rate. Boult's economy is 8.33 while Tye had spent 7.91 run per over to claim the Purple Cap. 

Boult picked two late wickets with the old ball to help Delhi restrict Punjab to 143. 

Mayank Markande, the find of IPL 2018, will have a chance to reclaim the Purple Cap on Tuesday when Mumbai Indians take on Sunrisers Hyderbad in their IPL 2018 match. Markande has 8 wickets from 5 matches so far. Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav and Chris Woakers also have eight wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah (7) will also be in action on Monday. However, IPL 2017 Purple Cap winner Bhuvneshwar Kumar (6) will miss the match.

The leading wicket-taker at the end of the Indian Premier League season wins the Purple Cap award. The bowler with most wickets in IPL during the course of the season gets to wear the Purple Cap.
