IPL 2018 Orange Cap: Sanju Samson dethrones Virat Kohli in run-scoring list after Indian Premier League match 21

Rajasthan Royals' Sanju Samson rose to the top of the charts in the race for IPL 2018 Orange Cap with his 52 against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. 

Sanju Samson overtook Virat Kohli as the leading run-scorer of IPL 2018 after game 21. Sanju Samson sits atop the IPL 2018 most run list with 239 runs in 6 innings, with the highest score of an unbeaten 92. 

Virat Kohli is now at no. 2 in the IPL 2018 Orange Cap list with 231 runs, with the highest score of 92 not out. 

Krishnappa Gowtham produced a blinder of a knock for Royals after Samson and Ben Stokes had smartly negotiated a slow track as RR pulled off a nail-biting three-wicket win over MI in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match 21. 

The pitch was not conducive for stroke-making but Samson (52) and Stokes (40 off 27) added 72 runs for the third wicket to push their side close to the finish line and the hosts eventually crossed it with two balls to spare. Gowtham conjured up an unbeaten 11-ball 33-run knock under pressure, hitting two sixes and four fours to seal a thrilling win for his side.

Sunrise Hyderabad's Kane Williamson and Chennai Super Kings' Ambati Rayudu also entered the list of IPL 2018 leading run-scorers after the game 20 of Indian Premier League earlier on Sunday. 

Williamson scored a 84 off 51 balls now sit at third in the list with 230 runs. Ambati Rayudu is 8th in list after his smashing knock of 79 off only 37 balls.

Chris Gayle sits at no. 4 with 229 runs in just three matches while his KXIP teammate KL Rahul is placed 6th with 213 runs off 5 matches. Delhi Daredevils' Rishabh Pant is in fifth place- sandwiched between two KXIP openers with 223 runs.
