IPL 2018: Highest run-getter and most number of boundary and over-boundary hitter so far, KL Rahul is on a roll

KL Rahul once shunted out of Indian limited over squad for being a 'test player' is showing to the world that he is an explosive customer in the shortest format of the game. 

Technically solid, Rahul has all the shots in the book and unlike many of the Indian batters, can play the hook and pull with ease. Rahul's entire stroke range was in full display in Wankhede stadium on Wednesday when he nearly pulled off a tough chase all by himself against Mumbai Indians. Rahul scored 94 of 60 balls punctuated with 10 fours and 3 sixes.

When he got out, KXIP needed 20 of 9 balls with plenty of wickets in hand. Yet they failed to seal the deal. KXIP has been on a tailspin in the second half of the tournament and are in danger of bowing out of the tournament.

Playing for a new franchise, KL Rahul who previously had a stint with RCB is showing maturity which he hadn't shown earlier. After indifferent form in  2014 and 2015, his breakout season was 2016 when he played a key hand for the Bangalore side. Thus it was a surprise  when Sarfaraz Khan was retained and not KL Rahul by them!  

Lokesh Rahul unperturbed by receding fortunes of his team is scoring runs with a gusto. He is currently holder of the orange cap scoring 652 of 13 matches with a highest of 95 not out. His average is impressive 59.27 and he has also scored the runs at a fair clip of 160.98 strike rate,

He has also hit 32 sixes and 65 fours in the process, the most number in the tournament so far. KL Rahul has been selected for India's tour of Ireland. Based on his performance in IPL, it will be extremely hard to keep him out of the first 11.
