Indian cricketer Stuart Binny announces retirement from all forms of cricket

Indian cricket Stuart Binny has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The all-rounder had represented the Men in Blue in six Tests, 14 ODIs and three T20Is. He scored a total of 459 runs and had picked up 24 wickets.

Interestingly, it was just days ago, after Team India had suffered a horrendous campaign in their third Test against England, that Stuart Binny's wife and Indian commentator had shared a photo of him on her Instagram.

The Indian all-rounder had batted brilliantly during the first Test of India's 2014 tour of England at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. It was Binny's maiden Test cap. Binny had scored 78 off 114 deliveries before Moeen Ali took his wicket. His knock had comprised of eight boundaries and a solitary six. 

"I would like to inform you that I have decided to retire from first-class and international cricket. It has given me tremendous joy and pride to have represented my country at the international level," said Binny in an official statement.

"I would like to acknowledge the huge role that the BCCI has played in my cricket journey. Their support and faith over the years has been invaluable. My cricket journey would not have even started had it not been for the Karnataka state and their support. It has been an honour to captain and win trophies with my state," he added.

Further in his statement, Binny said: "The game of cricket runs through my blood and I will always look to give it back to the game that has given me everything. I thank you for your continued support in my next innings."

On August 29, Mayanti Langer had taken to her Instagram story and shared a picture of Stuart taking a run with a frustrated James Anderson in the background. 

Not just that, she has shared a number of his photos since last night from his cricket days and even his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

However, despite this knock, Binny, could not cement himself and become a regular face in the Indian Test team. The all-rounder's last appearance in Team India colours was marked in August 2016 in a T20I.
