Pant is the fourth Indian to make his ODI debut this year. India has handed ODI debuts to Siddharth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed and Deepak Chahar in 2018 so far.

Pant will play as a specialist batsman with MS Dhoni behind the stumps. It was MSD who handed Pant his maiden ODI cap.

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, who scored a century at the Oval in his debut series against England, continued his sublime form with consecutive scores of 92 against the West Indies in the two-match Test series. He scored 184 runs in two innings missing out on centuries in the two Test matches at Rajkot and Hyderabad.

Brought in the side as a 'specialist batsman' at the expense of Dinesh Karthik, Pant will be under a little bit of pressure to perform from the world go.
