Virat Kohli clinched his 24th Test century during his knock on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test between India and West Indies in Rajkot on Friday.

In 72* Tests, the Indian skipper now has 24 tons, 19 fifties and six double hundreds.

Kohli reached 24 Test tons in 123 innings, second fastest to the milestone after Australian great Don Bradman who clinched the same in just 66 innings.

With the knock of his 24th hundred, Kohli, who is on 103*, has surpassed former Australian Captain Steve Smith's tally of 6,199 Test runs. Kohli, currently on 6,250* Test runs, has played six more innings and averages seven points less.

Smith hasn't played for his country since the infamous Cape Town Test against South Africa in March but recently featured in the Canadian Global T20 League and for Sydney Premier Cricket side Sutherland.

The Australian received a 12-month ban for his part in the ball tampering controversy during the Cape Town Test and cannot officially return to playing state, Big Bash and national level cricket until March 29 next year.

The Indian captain certainly has made full use of Smith’s ban in Test cricket, the format which was dominated purely by Smith in the last couple of years.
