During the ongoing England tour, Team India skipper Virat Kohli has succeeded in surpassing the 50-run mark only once.
Team India skipper Virat Kohli is not in good form for past few months. It is to be noted that Kohli scored his last century in November 2019 and though Kohli, 32, has batted well in the last two years his success in Test is not consistent. Kohli averaged only 19.33 in Tests in 2020 and his average in the ongoing calendar year is 27.15.
During the ongoing England tour, Kohli has succeeded in surpassing the 50-run mark only once. His scores in three Test against England so far are: 0, DNB, 42, 20, 7, 55. Former England captain Nasser Hussain has claimed that Kohli is set to face more trouble in the remaining matches as he is unsure of his off-stump. According to Hussain, Kohli is facing problems against the deliveries pitched on the fourth-fifth stump-line.
Meanwhile, former India middle-prder batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has claimed that Kohli will continue to face trouble in England if he will not make changes in his technique. "Virat currently is grappling with his issue outside off, 2014 is coming back to haunt Virat and if he does not leave balls as he did in 2018, he is likely to be troubled the whole series. Or, he could not be so obsessed with getting onto the front foot no matter what and make his life easier and the bowlers’ more difficult. His front foot play is just making him graft more and even average bowlers who bowl around good length are making the great batter scavenge for runs," Manjrekar wrote in Hindustan Times.
India will try their best to grab a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series versus England when the fourth and penultimate Test begins from September 2 at Kennington Oval, London. The series is currently tied at 1-1 with first Test ending in a draw.
