Indian skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma will be looking to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s century record in the upcoming five-match ODI series against Australia. The first ODI will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 3.
The ‘Master Blaster’ currently holds the record of most centuries by a player from either side during an India-Australia match. Tendulkar has scored eight centuries against the five-time World Champions during his glorious period.
As for Rohit, he has seven tons to his name and needs just one to equal the legendary batsman and Kohli has six tons. The captain is currently tied with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting in this elite list.
According to past records, Kohli is better equipped to break Tendulkar’s record as he has a knack of scoring big. The last five times he went past the 50-run mark at home, he has mostly converted them into hundreds.
While Rohit has amassed 1778 runs in 31 ODIs against Australia – which is the most runs for him against any opposition – in the 50-over format.
