India vs Australia 3rd Test: Virat Kohli could break another record in Boxing Day Test

The Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli has been in the news lately for many wrong reasons; however, the aggressive man is on the verge of another milestone looking to end the year on an emphatic note.

Virat Kohli, who notched up his 25th Test hundred in the second Test match against Australia and also equaled Sachin Tendulkar's record of six Test hundreds on Australian soil, stands just 82 runs away from smashing Rahul Dravid's record of highest away runs overseas in a calendar year.

The wall of Indian cricket had scripted history by scoring 1137 runs in overseas Test matches in the year 2002. He surpassed Mohinder Amarnath's 1065 runs in overseas Tests in 1983. Currently, Kohli has scored 1056 runs in the overseas Tests in 2018 and could overtake Dravid in the Boxing Day Test match.

Earlier this year, Kohli had put on a solid show against South Africa notching up 286 runs in three Test matches including a milestone hundred at Centurion. He continued his dominant performance in England and also awarded with the best performer throughout the series.

However, the Australian tour did give some jitters, but the captain bounced back in Perth with a stunning 123 off 257 deliveries to help India post 283 runs on the board in reply to Australia's 326. Losing the match meant taking the series to a 1-1 level.

It’s now in Melbourne that Kohli will have everyone eyes on him, as he steps out to bat. Standing just 82 runs away, he is likely to achieve the feat in the third Test.
