India started their Australian tour with the first T20I of the three-match series on Wednesday. India were looking to assert their dominance before the all-important Test series.
However, there were some worrying signs for the team as India peformed very poorly in the field.
India dropped couple of catches while there were some mistakes in the field after Virat Kohli decided to bowl first on winning the toss.
Virat Kohli, did not set a good example, as he dropped Aaron Finch early in the Australian innings. Khaleel Ahmed also dropped an important catch just before rain interrupted play.
India were unlucky in the field as one mis-timed shot by Glenn Maxwell hit the spider cam after going up in air. They also missed a run-out chance to send Maxwell back early.
Maxwell made India pay as hit many big sixes. Ironically, his sixes were caught by the spectators in the stands. Fans reacted to the display on Twitter criticising the Indian team.
Here are some of the reactions:
If Australia win this game it will be because India’s fielding has been very poor. A couple of dropped catches, some costly midfields and a missed run-out. #AUSvIND

Folks in stands have taken better catches than the players on the ground. #INDvAUS

Catches dropped. Inexperienced members of the bowling unit going for 10-12 an over. Not the sort of start IND would have wanted to a tough tour !
