Since India’s Asia Cup Super Four clash against Afghanistan on Tuesday is a dead-rubber considering India have already made it to the final, they chose to rest a lot of players and try the young benched ones.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvender Chahal were rested, and in their place came in KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Siddharth Kaul, and debutant Deepak Chahar.

With the captain and his deputy out of the team, former skipper Dhoni was asked to lead the side on Tuesday. The moment is immensely special for the entire country, citing he is the best-ever limited-overs captain India have ever had.

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat and at the toss, Dhoni said they were anyway looking to bowl. “We were looking to bowl first. We have made quite a few changes. Both the openers are missing, Bhuvi, Bumrah, and Chahal are also missing. Everybody who hadn't played in this tournament gets a chance. They are part of the 15 and are representing India. We'll have to keep the intensity up. It is important for them to adjust to the line and length they need to bowl. I was not really sure of where I am standing,” he said.

Here is India's Playing XI for India vs Afghanistan:

The India vs Afghanistan fixture will be Dhoni’s 200th ODI as India’s captain and speaking about the milestone, Dhoni said, “I have captained 199 ODIs, so this gives me an opportunity to make it 200. It's all destiny and I have always believed in that. It's not in my control, once I left captainship. Good to complete 200, but I don't think it really matters.”
