The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a new contract system and compensation structure for Indian Cricket on Wednesday. The new contracts will see the cricketers earn a lot more than what they used to in previous years.

The BCCI have introduced two new grade systems with introduction of Grade A+ for Indian men's cricket and Grade C for Indian women's cricket team. The Indian cricket board has increased the salaries of both men's and women's cricket team.

While BCCI have introduced a new retainership pay structure for men's team i.e. Grade A+: Rs 7 Cr, Grade A: Rs 5 Cr, Grade B: Rs 3 Cr, Grade C: Rs 1 Cr.

Earlier, there was no Grade A+ in the list while Grade A players used to get Rs 2 Cr and Grade B and C cricketers received Rs 1 Cr and Rs 50 Lakh respectively.

The women's team has been divided in three grades, where the Grade A ones will be getting Rs 50 lakh, those in Grade B will be paid Rs 30 lakh and the ones in Grade C will be handed Rs 10 lakh each.

Earlier, Grade A players were paid Rs 15 lakh, while the salary for Grade B players was Rs 10 lakh.

However, the disparity in the monetary rewards between the India men's cricket team and the women in blue still continues. While there has been a significant raise, the women cricketers clearly are still way behind their male counterparts earn.

Here's comparison of the players' salaries:

Grade India men's cricket team India women's cricket team
Grade A+ Rs 7 crore NA
Grade A Rs 5 crore Rs 50 lakh
Grade B Rs 3 crore Rs 30 lakh
