IND vs WI 1st Test: Ishant Sharma takes 5 as India end day two on top in Antigua

Day two came to an end of the first test match between India and West Indies.

West Indies trail by 108 runs as day two action came to an abrupt end due to rain over at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua on Friday.

The Windies started off the match in an electrifying fashion, scoring 21 runs inside the first three overs as openers John Campbell and Kraigg Brathwaite looked confided with on the chase.

It was in the 8th over when West Indies lost their first wicket after Mohammad Shami dismissed Campbell, who departed after scoring 23 runs off 30 deliveries. 

Kraigg Brathwaite soon followed Campbell's footsteps after Ishant Sharma pulled off an excellent caught & bowled. 

Jadeja was then brought into the attack by Kohli and the all-rounder did deliver for his skipper by picking up Shamarh Brooks' valuable wicket as West Indies were 54/3 after 21 overs. 

Roston Chase then came in and took charge of things.

Bravo and Chase's was looking very promising but then Jasprit Bumrah stepped up and provided Team India with the breakthrough with Bravo 's wicket.

Chase was the only standout batsman in the entire Windies line up on Friday but the 27-year-old just fell two runs short from his deserved half-century. 

Sharma was very impressive with the ball, picking five wickets for his troubles with Bumrah, Jadeja and Shami getting one-wicket each for India as West Indies ended up with 189/8 after 59 overs.

Earlier in the day, India fell just three runs short of the 300-run mark as West Indies dismissed the Men In Blue for 297. 

Team India managed to add 93 runs and lost all four of their remaining wickets during the extended first session of play. Ravindra Jadeja was the star man for his side with the bat as the all-rounder completed his well-deserved half-century before getting dismissed by Jason Holder's short ball while batting on 58.

Kemar Roach dismissed Rishabh Pant for 24 runs early on in the day.  

Ishant Sharma came in to bat and played beautifully and intelligently and provided some valuable support to Jadeja.

The pair managed to build a partnership of 60 runs for the 8th wicket before Gabriel struck for the Men In Maroon. Mohammad Shami's bad form with the bat continued on Friday as he got caught & bowled by Roston Chase for a duck off the first ball.

Shami now has failed to score a single run in his last five Test innings for India.

Tailender Jasprit Bumrah came in and hung on to add 29 runs with Jadeja for the last wicket.

West Indies bowlers were very impressive today, especially Kemar Roach who finishing with four wickets to his name. Gabriel and Chase took three and two wickets respectively as well.
