After getting completely outplayed by an inform India side in Indore, Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga claimed that his side really missed Isuru Udana’s bowling class during their run defense.
India cruised to a 7-wicket win in the second T20I of the three-match series against the Lankans on Tuesday (January 7).
Batting first, the visitors managed to put up only 142 on the board at an expense of 9 wickets from their allocated 20 overs. On the chase, India reached the target score comfortable within 17.3 overs.
After the match, Malinga claimed, "He’s (Udana) our main bowler and is very experienced in this format. He got injured just before we went out to bowl. He’s recovering now. We also need to give opportunities to youngsters.”
“We were around 25-30 runs short. We tried to bowl a consistent line and length. The bowlers did well to drag the match till the 18th over,” he added.
During this match, Virat Kohli became the fastest Indian skipper to score 1000 runs in T20Is and also went past Rohit Sharma to become the top-scoring batsman in the shortest for the game.
With a 1-0 lead under their belt, Team India will lock horns with Sri Lanka for the third and final match of the series on Friday (January 10) in Pune.
After the washout in Guwahati, the tourists will be desperate to win the final match to end the series on level terms.
