IND vs SL 2nd Test: Jasprit Bumrah's 5-wicket haul restricts Sri Lanka to 109, India lead by 143 runs

Team India's vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah came up top as he completed his fifer to help fold the Sri Lankan team for a paltry 109 runs in their first innings. Earlier, India had scored 252 in their first innings, but having a lead of 143 runs, the Men in Blue will look to further consolidate their grip over the match and seal the series. 

Team India required just five overs to put a full stop to Sri Lanka's first innings on Day 2. The Lankan lions had already suffered a collapse of sorts on Saturday, although on Sunday the team was blown away by India's clinical bowling.

The track at M Chinnaswamy Stadium was of such help to the bowlers that as many as 16-wickets fell on Day 1 alone, India could only muster up a total of 252, which looked challenging enough considering the pitch conditions.

Shreyas Iyer scored a 98-ball 92 to help propel the hosts to a fight-worthy total. In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a shaky start as they lost opener Kusal Mendis in the second over itself, Jasprit Bumrah provided the early breakthrough. 

He would strike again in the fifth over to send Lahiru Thirimanne back to the dugout in the fifth over.

Mohammed Shami also joined the party when he bowled Dimuth Karunaratne, and from then on, it was all about the Indian bowlers. 

Sri Lanka finished Day 1 at 86/6, and the Indian bowlers made light work of their opposition batters on Sunday. While Bumrah got his fifer, Shami and Ashwin picked up two wickets each and Axar Patel also registered a scalp to bring an abrupt end to the visitors' inning.
