Scotland claimed the first surprise scalp of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021. The minnows beat Bangladesh by 6 runs after being asked to bat first during the round 1 cricket match at Al Merat stadium.
After a dismal start where the Scots lost 6 wickets at just 53, reached a total of 140 on the back of a 51 run seventh wicket partnership between Chris Greaves and Mark Watt. With 141 runs needed to win, Bangladesh were slow to build momentum and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.
With 37 runs needed in 3 overs, the match was poised to go either way. However, a phenomenal over by Brad Wheal, where he picked up both Mahmud Ullah and Nurul Hassan, sealed Bangladesh’s fate as they fell six runs short.
