The sluggish tracks at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka have resulted in the undoing of the Australian cricket team as Bangladesh have beaten the Matthew Wade-led side in the five-match series, winning the first three games and taking an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Bangladesh defended 131 runs in the first match, they chased down a target of 122 runs and they defended a score again in the third T20I and thereby have won their first-ever bilateral series against Australia.

Australian team without the likes of Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Pat Cummins among others travelled to Bangladesh after a mixed-bag tour of West Indies for a T20I series as part of their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup, however, their batsmen haven't been able to acclimatise themselves to spin-friendly tracks and run-rates in access of 8 is getting difficult for them to chase in the last few overs.

Australia have bowled well in the series and a similar trend followed in the third game as well as Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa provided their side with crucial breakthroughs and kept the hosts' run rate around run-a-ball. Despite skipper Mahmudullah's spirited half-century, Bangladesh weren't able to score quick runs and even if they wanted to, debutant Nathan Ellis had other ideas.

Ellis first dismissed Mahmudullah and followed it up with wickets of Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan on the fourth, fifth and final balls of the 20th over of the innings as he became the first-ever bowler to take a hat-trick in T20Is on his debut. Nathan Ellis also became the third Australian bowler after Brett Lee and Ashton Agar and 16th overall to take a hat-trick in T20I matches.

However, Ellis and other bowlers' work was undone as despite a valiant fifty from Mitchell Marsh, the Australian batsmen played too many dot balls in the middle overs and it was too late for them as they needed 22 runs off the last over with skipper Wade and Daniel Christian on the crease.

Bangladesh eventually won the match by 10 runs and pocketed the series with two matches to go.
