Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly turned 49 on Thursday, July 8.
Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf was a great admirer of former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Musharraf heaped praise on Dhoni during India's tour of Pakistan in 2005-06 when he visited during one of the games and even was a fan of his hairdo when the former Indian skipper used to sport long hair.
Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain and current BCCI president under whom Dhoni made his debut and flourished under his leadership, had once responded to Musharraf when the ex-president had asked where did they get Dhoni from.
Ganguly, who celebrated his 49th birthday on Thursday, had shared the hilarious anecdote from the famous 2005-06 tour when he jokingly answer to Musharraf's question saying that he pulled Dhoni in when he was strolling near Wagah Border.
"I still remember Pervez Musharraf asking me from where did you get him? 'I told him he was walking near the Wagah border and we pulled him in," Ganguly had recalled when he addressed a gathering in Tolygunge a few years ago.
Ganguly, considered as the catalyst in India's revival as a cricketing team in the early 2000s was one of the long-term serving captains for the Indian team. Ganguly represented his country in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs scoring 7212 and 11,363 runs respectively.
