When the story of a possible rift between India's top players - Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma - surfaced, the internet could not even handle the thought of the Men in Blue getting divided.

Social media went into a frenzy after Rohit Sharma unfollowed Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma on Instagram.

The rift saga came into picture post-India's World Cup semifinal exit that even Committee of Administrators chief Vinod Rai felt the need to react to it, dismissing it as media speculation.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar even went on to say, "Virat and Rohit can shout from the rooftops as much as they can but this story won’t end. Every time Rohit fails there will be those who will nod their heads knowingly and a wink, hinting he deliberately got out".

Talking in an exclusive interview with DNA Web, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag spoke about the rift and what he thinks about the same.

Present at Umeed India book launch in Mumbai, Sehwag said, "If four people live in a family, it is not necessary that they all eat food together or even go out together, but during a function, they are all seen together.

"So to assume that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not gone out to eat together and come to conclusions that they had a fight is wrong.

"Till they don't come and tell about a rift, or there are enough proofs about it, till then you can't say anything".

Sehwag even spoke how there were talks about fights between him and former Indian captain MS Dhoni. He said, "There were even talks about fights between me and MS Dhoni, but there were no disputes between us. I don't know which media source has given everyone such information.

"Fight between top players looks good on paper, but in reality, there is nothing. If they really had a rift, the two would not be seen talking to each other and giving suggestions to each other.

"I can only comment on the topic if I can get a confirmation that there really is a rift between Kohli and Rohit. But according to me, I don't think there is any fight between the two".

As of now, Team India is in Jamaica for their Test series against the West Indies. India has already clinched the ODI and T20I series and also won the first Test match.

They now will be eager to get a win the second Test as well and earn the 60 crucial points keeping the ICC World Test Championship in mind.

The squad will then fly back home and play against South Africa. The first T20I between India and South Africa will take place on September 15 in Dharamsala.

Where all-rounder Hardik Pandya finds a spot in the 15-man squad, MS Dhoni has been overlooked for the series. Not just Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also not part of the team.
