After a fantastic repair job on the third day by the top order led by Cheteshwar Pujara, the Indian batting line-up suffered a mini-collapse going from 237/3 to 239/6 in space of two overs as Ollie Robinson and James Anderson induced false shots from the Indian players.

Resuming on their overnight of 215/2, India failed to add anything before they lost the wicket of set Pujara, who misjudged a full ball in the line of stumps from Ollie Robinson and shouldered his arms. Since he offered no shot, the impact was out of the equation and the replays showed that the ball was hitting the stumps.

After which skipper Virat Kohli continued to negotiate the first spell of both the pacers from new ball and brought up his half-century. But followed soon after was a disaster for the tourists as one, two, three... wickets just kept falling one after the other.

The first one to go was Kohli himself. Robinson lept bowling in the 5th stump line and Kohli felt for it, not for the first time and edged straight into the hands of his counterpart, Joe Root at first slip.

Anderson, who was off-colour on Day 3 got the reward in the next over with the same line as Rahane edged straight into the hands of the wicket-keeper Jos Buttler.

If it wasn't enough Rishabh Pant too went in the same way, edging a Robinson delivery to Craig Overton in the slips as India were reduced to 239/6.
