A Delhi-based women's activist has moved the Supreme Court seeking directions against the continuation of Rahul Johri as BCCI CEO citing several sexual harassment complaints against him.
In her petition, Rashmi Nair has stated that "Johri had a very colourful past in each and every organisation where he worked and he managed to get away with all allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by threat, coercion or greed".
Nair pleaded in her petition that all records pertaining to a three-member committee examining the cases should be summoned before the court to know "how Johri was given the benefit of doubt despite difference of opinion within the members".
"The three women came for deposition but for some reason one woman did not depose and other two women deposed against Johri. After this team carried out the investigation, there was a difference of opinion between members — Justice (retd) Rakesh Sharma, Barkha Singh and Veena Gowda — and giving the benefit of doubt and clean chit despite one member (Gowda) found him guilty (sic)," the petition said.
Nair has attached media reports with the petition to support her point.
The committee had been was set up by Committee of Administrators' chief Vinod Rai, without taking his other colleague Diana Edulji into confidence.

Calling Johri "a wolf in sheep's clothing", Nair wrote in her petition, "He believed and was quoted and saying, 'women do lot of thing for fame and money'. When she (name not disclosed) did not fall for his advances, and refuse to buckle down she was targeted at work for no reason attributable to her work, but solely because she did not fulfil sexual desires of CEO.
"Johri singled her out at the work place and she had to quit the organisation in February, 2018. Johri who had realized that this girl is not circumventing to his pressure and might open her mouth immediately expelled her from organization (sic)."
In her petition, Nair said there is no reason why the recently-appointed BCCI ombudsman Justice (retd) DK Jain should not revisit the case against Johri.
"It is not known as to what progress has been made or if the said issue is being actually looked into by the Hon'ble Ombudsman. It is submitted that such a person who has such past with serious allegations against him should not be allowed even for a moment to work as CEO of such premier organisation like BCCI, which represents India and deals on behalf of Indian National Cricket Team with outside world (sic)."
Nair has urged the Court to take up the matter immediately as Johri's visibility on live television is sending a wrong message to the victims.
