The 9th edition of the CPL will begin on August 26 at St Kitts with the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders playing the first game.
After all the adjustments in schedule and venues and squad updates, the ninth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to begin on Thursday, August 26 at Warner Park in St Kitts with the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders taking on the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Owing to COVID-19 concerns, the whole tournament will take place at the same venue, as last year. Last year's tournament was held at two stadiums in Trinidad and Tobago. Other protocols state that only 50% occupancy will be allowed in the stadium while only fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed to watch the game.
Six teams - Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, St Lucia Kings, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs - will face each other twice in the league stage and the top four teams will fight out in the semi-finals and final format in the knockout, with the last game slated to take place on September 15.
