Chennai Super Kings has contributed Rs three lakh towards the treatment cost of former India and Baroda cricketer Jacob Martin, who is on life support at a Vadodara hospital.

Martin, 46, who played 10 One-Day Internationals between 1999 and 2001, met with a road accident in December and sustained injuries to his lungs and liver.

"Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited transferred a sum of Rs three lakh towards the medical expenses of Martin," K S Viswanathan, CEO, Chennai Super Kings, said.

"We got in touch with Baroda Cricket Association officials to understand his financial situation. We hope and pray for his speedy recovery," Viswanathan added.

Earlier, Krunal Pandya had handed a blank cheque with Former Baroda Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Patel saying, "Sir, please fill up whatever is needed, but nothing less than Rs 1 lakh".

"Martin's family was in a dilemma, whether to appeal for help or not. Today, the situation is such that they don't have to ask, members from the fraternity are asking about the amount to transfer," Patel said.

BCCI has sanctioned Rs 5 lakhs while former India skipper Sourav Ganguly helped the family with a bank.

Other cricketers such as Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, and Munaf Patel also came forward to help. India coach Ravi Shastri has also promised assistance to Sanjay Patel.
