During her Budget 2021 speech, Sitharaman couldn't help but recall the joy Indian fans as a cricket-loving nation felt on the historic Test series win
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Team India's success in the recently concluded series against and in Australia, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, couldn't help but recall the team's 'spectacular success' in Australia.
During her speech of Budget 2021, Sitharaman hailed India's performance saying, "I can't help but recall the joy that we as a cricket-loving nation felt after the team India's recent spectacular success in Australia."
"It has reminded us of all the qualities that we as people, particularly our youth, epitomise having abundant promise and the unsuppressed first to perform and to succeed," added Sitharaman.
India achieved an odds-defying victory against Australia, in a come-from-behind victory as they beat the home side, 2-1 after facing a humiliating loss at the Adelaide Oval. The depleted Indian side, were on the backfoot after losing the first Test as the regular skipper Virat Kohli departed for the birth of their first child. India's first-choice bowling attack was out from the final Test due to injuries, but led by a spirited leader in Ajinkya Rahane, and his fantastic ton at the MCG helped India turn around their form in the series.
