England and India have also faced deduction in the World Test Championship points after the penalisation due to slow over-rate in the first Test.
The first of the five-match Test series between India and England at Trent Bridge may have deprived the fans and the game of a potential cracking Day 5 and hence a result as the rain washed off the entire final day and the match ended in a draw, it has bought some more bad news for both the teams.
Virat Kohli-led India and Joe Root-led England have been fined 40 percent of their match fee for slow over-rate during the first Test match. This also means that both teams, who earned four points each with the draw according to the new points system in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle have been docked two points each and have only two points remaining to show for.
ICC in a statement said, "Both the teams now have two points each in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 standings heading into the second Test at Lord's.
"Apart from the point deduction, hosts England were also fined 40% of their match fee for slow over-rate while Virat Kohli's India were also penalised 40% by match referee Chris Broad," the release further said.

Both teams will now lock horns at the Home of Cricket - Lord's Cricket Ground - for the second Test from Thursday, August 12 and will look to earn some points with a win.
