The Pulwama attack has not only led to tension politically but also in the sporting circle. With the 2019 World Cup just 100 days away, there are doubts if Team India would play their arch-rivals Pakistan in the multi-nation event.

Although the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that it won't change the schedule, a source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that Team India won't play against Pakistan in the tournament if the Indian government "at that point feels it should not."

"The situation will get clearer after some time, a little closer to the World Cup. ICC has nothing to do with it. If the government at that point in time feels we shouldn't play, it's obvious that we won't play. But the result of that would be that Pakistan will get the points of the match & if it is final (b/w India & Pakistan), they will win the World Cup without even playing. We haven't yet approached ICC in this regard," a BCCI source told ANI.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident and we will be monitoring the situation with our Members," ICC CEO Dave Richardson said, offering his condolences on the ghastly terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.

"There is no indication that any (of the) matches at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup will not go ahead as planned," Richardson said.

"Sport, in particular cricket, has the wonderful ability to bring people together and unite communities and we will work with our Members on that basis," he added.
