England have recalled off-spin all-rounder Moeen Ali for the 2nd Test against India. The second Test of the five-match series is set to begin at Lord’s on Thursday (August 12). It is to be noted that Moeen Ali was sent an SOS by England skipper Joe Root and coach Chris Silverwood after the hosts faced a batting collapse in the 1st Test which ended in a draw. Ali is a handy lower order batsman and his inclusion is expected to add the depth in England batting.

“Moeen is certainly under consideration. It’s something I will talk about with Joe Root,” said head coach Silverwood on Monday.

"We know he’s a fine cricketer and he’s showing good form in the Hundred at the moment, even though that’s a different format. It’s something that has to be in our mind," Silverwood was quoted by DailyMail.

According to reports, Moeen Ali has joined the practice session of England team in London straight from The Hundred. Moeen Ali has not played any first-class cricket in the last two years. 

When asked if he was excited to play against India in the 2nd Test. “Of course if you get the call-up, then playing for England is the highest thing you can get. If I get the call then I’ll be available. It’s a win-win for me, things are going really well for me here and the team,” Moeen Ali told BBC.
