With the Asia Cup underway, in the absence of Indian team’s coach Ravi Shastri, the side’s senior-most player and former captain MS Dhoni took over the charge during their net session in Dubai on Sunday.

There was a touch of nostalgia for the players, journalists and the officials present in the ICC Academy where Dhoni stood exactly at the same place where Shastri would have stood guiding both the Indian batsmen and bowlers.

This may have come as an indication of Dhoni’s post-retirement plans. Being the most successful Indian captain, there are no doubts about his leadership skills and with an addition of the experience factor, Dhoni could make a great coach for Team India.

Earlier, returning batsman Ambati Rayudu said how India would not struggle for being without their Captain Virat Kohli because of Dhoni’s presence in the side.

“Obviously he (Virat) is a big miss and loss to the team. However, we still have enough quality in the team to go out and win. He (Dhoni) has been India's captain and always been the go-to man for everybody in the team.

He (Dhoni) has helped me a lot in terms of how I recovered this season." With India yet to settle their middle-order conundrum with less than a year left for the World Cup, there is a chance for players such as Rayudu to cement their places in the team,” Rayudu said at a media conference on Saturday.
